Beyond closed doors, the thrum of hard bass music was faint and felt all too distant. The office seemed like a world apart, and a heavy silence had fallen, broken only by the soft purring of the sleek black cat at the boss' side. It felt as if the room were full of eyes, all staring intently, expectantly.

Malthiel waited patiently, slowly rolling his glass. Hooded silver eyes never once left his guest, and scarcely blinked. When at last they leaned forward to pluck the contract from the table, a sly grin spread across his face.
"So... Do we have a deal?"


Finally finished a prompt for Malthiel to make him official! Following the prompt "Does your character have a job or another place where they work? Do they make an honest living or are they responsible for the crime on the streets? Show us what they do to earn money!" 
So here's Mal at work, just wrapping up the last negotiations of a contract with a client. What's the contract? Who knows. Who is the client? That's classified. Is any of this legal? Probably not. But then, most of Mal's vast fortune has been made off the record and under the table. A smirk like that can only mean good intentions though, right?
